Announcing the 2nd Annual Youth Ecovillage Summit
This year’s gathering will take place in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, at Earthaven Ecovillage. With eighty year-round residents and decades of off-the-grid living, Earthaven is the perfect place to host this year’s event. October will be especially beautiful, as the leaves begin to turn a dazzling display of colors!
The Summit is designed for community leaders, students, sustainability enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to live a more connected and conscious life. It is going to be an exciting three days!
Here is some of what you can look forward to:
Ecovillage Immersion
Over three days we will immerse ourselves in community life at Earthaven, sharing meals and volunteering on the land along side residents. At the same time we will explore the broader concept of ecovillages as a model for sustainability education and experimentation in the four dimensions – social, environmental, economic, and cultural.
Community Building
Whether you are interested in forming your own intentional community someday or just want to create more cooperative culture were you are living right now, ecovillages have something to teach everyone. Join us on a deep dive into learning about community building tools, communication skills, and personal development journeys. Hands-on workshops and sacred ceremonies will be lead by experienced facilitators.
Powerful Inspiration
For this event we will be joined by leaders of sustainability initiatives, social enterprises, and community projects in the nearby city of Asheville and beyond. Focusing on both local and global scales, we will hear inspiring stories, find networking opportunities, and receive valuable resources that can be put to use in your own community, project, or organization.
Deep Connection
We know from last year’s Summit that a powerful part of this gathering is connecting with fellow participants, around the bonfire, during workshops, in the gardens and wherever else you may wander. A community of likeminded youth from across North America quickly emerges. We make time during the event to hear each other’s stories and projects, as well as encourage fruitful connections to last long after our three days together.
